Born 1958 Newcastle, Australia. Lives and works in Sydney.
Simon Barney is a painter of inconsequential moments and vistas. His diffidence towards subject matter resolves itself by painting things as they have fallen, uncontrived, informal and often overlooked arrangements and landscapes. Simon Barney was also the curator of the long running exhibition project Briefcase (in which the exhibition was carted around town by Barney in a briefcase).
Exhibitions include: "How Things Fall" Silvershot, Melbourne 2008; "Rimbaud/Rambo" Neon Parc, Melbourne 2008; "Situation" Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney 2005; "Hospitality" Foxy Productions, New York 2001. For full a CV please contact the gallery.
