Born 1977, Gosford, Australia. Lives and works in Brisbane.
Julie Fragar is a painter whose work is an ongoing thesis that follows the unravelling/building of a life, drawing from every avenue of her existence. This all-encompassing and ongoing autobiographical project has, while being an attempt at truthfulness, developed concurrently into the most elaborate of deceptions.
Exhibitions include: "Temperature 2: New" Brisbane Art Museum of Brisbane 2009; "Optimism: Contemporary Australia" Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane 2008; "Rimbaud/Rambo" Neon Parc, Melbourne 2008; "2005 ABN AMRO Emerging Artist Award" (winner) Sydney 2005; "Archibald Prize 03" Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney 2003.
